I am an award-winning art director freelancing in Los Angeles for print and web projects. Recent projects have been designing 50 issues of a zine for YesPlz, a direct-to-consumer coffee company, as well as creating the exhibition book and the street banners for the massively popular Beyond the Streets exhibit in Los Angeles.

From 2013 to 2017, I was the Art Director at OC Weekly, an alternative news weekly that serves the area between Long Beach and San Clemente. In my time there, I worked on over 240 issues putting together all cover design and article layouts. I worked closely with photographers and illustrators in order to effectively promote the news and stories we covered. I am highly skilled in Adobe’s Creative Suite, working in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign every day as well as Illustrator when needed. Also in that role, I took a lot of photography that makes its way into each issue. I have a great understanding of typography and composition and love working out complex concepts and seeing them through to completion. I have been recognized by the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies and the OC Press Club for Headline Design, Cover Design, Page Layout, and Best Photo Essays for my trips to Antigua, Guatemala and Tokyo, Japan. You can also see samples of my writing here, here, here and here.

Prior to OC Weekly, I was an Art Director at Brand Sense Partners, a multi-tiered branding, licensing and marketing agency focusing on consumer products and fashion. I did work for clients including Hamilton Beach, Dodge, and the estates of Jimi Hendrix and Marlon Brando as well as working closely with the in-house agency, The POP Studio, to pitch and secure large contracts including Kenneth Cole Reaction and Hudson’s Bay Company.

On a personal level, I am a DJ, art lover, self-ascribed tech-addict, and a fan of culture, television and movies in general. I grew up in the age of the internet and taught myself web design at 14. It wasn’t until my mid-twenties, after college, that I started working in print. I have career experience in advertising for independent and feature films, publishing, web design, branding and marketing.

I would love the opportunity to talk to you about any upcoming projects.
